Why listings need rebuilding
Sources drift apart. A unit number here, old hours there, the trading name on one map and the legal name on another. Apple and Microsoft show listings for businesses that have never touched them. Month one puts the same name, address, phone, hours, categories, photos and buttons on all three maps, starting from a baseline we write down on day one.
Google handled 87.6% of searches in Australia in August 2026, so it comes first for every business. Apple matters for any business whose customers find it on a phone, which is most of them: 65.2% of mobile web browsing in Australia comes from iPhones. Bing matters when your customers work at a desk, or when you want Copilot to name you. Take any combination.
What moves the map ranking
Posts expire after seven days, and there is little public evidence that posting, or the location data attached to a photo, moves your map ranking on its own. We do them because they fill out a profile a customer is reading before they ring, and because an obviously active profile beats one last touched two years ago.
What moves the ranking is the plain half: correct details everywhere the maps look, the right categories, proximity, and reviews coming in steadily with replies underneath them. Months two and three are spent on that. Review requests go out after each job, and every review is answered within two business days with the service and the suburb named in the reply. Your details are checked across the directories Google reads, because anyone can suggest an edit to your profile, including a competitor.
Why it stops at three months
Most of the value is in month one. Once the listings are rebuilt and the review habit is yours, the monthly work drops away, so this is a program and not a retainer. At the end of month three you get a written report against the day one baseline and a recommendation on whether anything further is worth paying for. No rollover, no exit fee. Every login is yours.
How it is measured
Up to three agreed searches are tracked on a five by five grid, 25 points spread across the area you serve, rechecked every week. A single ranking number is misleading: you can be first outside your door and missing two suburbs away. The report shows your map position at each point from day one to month three, alongside the profile figures Google gives us. Apple reports how often you were found and what was tapped. Bing and Copilot are checked by hand each month. The grid tracks Google only; no tool we trust tracks Apple or Bing positions the same way.
What we ask for in week one
Manager access to the profile, or the email address it was created under. Your trading name exactly as registered, the suburbs you cover and your opening hours. At least ten photos of your own jobs, premises or team, and phone photos are fine.
We also ask for the questions customers ask when they ring. Those become the services list and the description, written in the words people search with.
The baseline, written down first
Before anything changes we record where you appear for your main searches across Townsville, how many calls, website clicks and direction requests the profile produced, and how many reviews you have. At the end of month three the same measures are taken again, so the report compares like with like.
If a second listing for the business exists, it is found and dealt with in week one, before any other change.
Replies that do some work
A reply to a review is read by every person who reads the review. A reply that names the job and the suburb, such as a split system installed in Kirwan, tells the next reader what you do and where you do it.
You get reply templates for a glowing review, a middling one and a complaint, so replies stay calm and quick after the program ends.
Categories and services
The primary category is the single biggest choice on the profile. It decides which searches Google considers you for. Secondary categories add the other kinds of work you do, and the services list names each job in the words customers use.
We check the categories used by the businesses that appear above you in Townsville, then choose yours from what you actually do.
The handover
The program ends with a written report and a handover: the review link, the reply templates, a posting routine and a checklist for keeping hours and photos current. Most owners keep it going themselves from there.
If you would rather hand it over, ongoing profile care can be quoted separately.
Townsville
Business Profiles in Townsville
Townsville spreads a long way, from the northern beaches to Kelso and out to the Upper Ross. Distance from the person searching is part of how the map ranks, so a business in Aitkenvale shows more readily to someone in Aitkenvale than to someone in Deeragun. A service area business can list every suburb it covers and hide its street address.
Everything else can be moved: the categories, the services list, your own photos, a steady run of reviews and replies that name the job and the suburb. That is what the three month program works through.

Questions
Google Business Profile Townsville: common questions
Which map matters most?
Google, for every business. Add Apple when your customers find you on a phone, which is most of them. Add Bing when your customers work at a desk or you want Copilot to name you.
Do posts move rankings?
There is no solid public evidence that they do. We include them because an active profile reads better to the customer who is deciding whether to ring, not because they are the point.
What do you need from me?
Manager access to the profile, or the email it was set up under. Your correct name, address and hours. Ten good photos of your own jobs, and the questions you get asked on the phone. New Apple or Bing listings are verified by a call, a code or a postcard, so someone needs to answer it.
How fast is the rebuild?
Inside two weeks of getting access. A brand new listing can take a few days longer while its verification arrives.
What happens after month three?
Nothing. No retainer, no rollover, no exit fee. You get the written report and every login, and the review habit keeps running because it is yours.
I work from home. Do I need to show my address?
No. Google lets a service area business hide its address and list the suburbs it covers. We set that up so customers see where you work without seeing where you live.
Why does another business show above me in the map?
Usually distance, categories and reviews. Your premises stay where they are, so we work on the categories, the details, the photos and a steady flow of reviews with replies.
Can you remove a duplicate listing?
We find duplicates in week one and ask Google to merge or remove them. Google makes the final decision, and we tell you what it decided.
What should I do about a bad review?
Reply calmly and specifically, using the complaint template. Every customer who reads that review also reads your reply.
Do I need Apple and Bing as well as Google?
Google comes first for every business. Apple Business and Bing Places are added where your customers use Apple Maps or Bing. Each is priced separately.
