How a radio schedule is built
A radio schedule is a set of placements, and each one costs something different. BMAD, or best mix all day, places your spot at random between 6am and 7pm and is the cheapest way to build frequency. Breakfast, 5:30am to 9am, is the most listened-to session and priced accordingly. Drive is the trip home. A live read has the presenter say it in their own words. A sponsorship puts a ten word line in front of the news, the sport or the weather every time it runs.
We are a media buyer, so the schedule is put together for your budget across the placements that suit what you sell, on one station or two. You see it before it is booked. Rates are per week and the fee is flat and upfront. There is no lock-in with any station we buy from.
Placements, in plain terms
A run of station placement spreads your commercial between 6am and 7pm. A breakfast placement puts it in the breakfast show, 5.30am to 9am, which is usually the most listened to shift of the day. A live read has the announcer read your message on air, in 30 or 60 seconds.
Sponsorships attach a ten word message to the news, sport or weather, heard many times a day across the month. An outside broadcast brings the station to your premises for a live activation, normally over three hours.
The commercial
We write the script, choose the voice and produce the spot to each station's specification. For a new customer the first 30 second radio commercial is free. After that, production is quoted per spot.
Picking the station
Each Townsville station suits a different listener. Some skew younger, some older, some toward country music, and each has its own rate. The schedule starts from who buys from you and where they are, then the stations and shows are matched to that.
A single station campaign runs $100 to $300 a week in airtime. A dual station campaign runs $500 to $1,000 a week and reaches more of the market.
Radio next to search
Radio makes your name familiar. When a listener needs you later, they search for you. A Business Profile and a website with a clear phone number catch that search, so we plan radio alongside them.
Enquiries and branded searches are watched while the campaign is on air, so you can see the lift.
What the monthly report shows
Each month you get the spots that ran, the stations and the times, alongside the calls, web visits and branded searches over the same weeks. The next month's schedule is adjusted from what the report shows.
Townsville
Townsville stations
In Townsville we buy across Triple M 102.3, Hit 103.1, Power100 100.7, Star 106.3, 4K1G 107.1 and KIX Country 98.9. KIX Country also broadcasts on 87.6 in Ingham and in Ayr and Home Hill. Each station has a different audience and a different price, so the schedule is built from who you sell to.
There is no lock-in with any station. You see the schedule and the price before it is booked, and a report of what ran each month.

Questions
Radio Advertising Townsville: common questions
How long should a radio campaign run?
Long enough to be heard more than once by the same person. Most schedules run in flights, a fortnight on and a fortnight off, and the schedule is built for your budget so it does that.
Do you produce the ad?
Yes. Script, voice and production, to the station's specification. The first 30 second radio commercial is free for a new customer.
Which station is right for me?
It depends who you sell to. Each station and each session has a different audience, and we match the schedule to your customers.
Which Townsville radio stations do you book?
Triple M 102.3, Hit 103.1, Power100 100.7, Star 106.3, 4K1G 107.1 and KIX Country 98.9, with KIX Country on 87.6 for Ingham and the Burdekin.
Is the first radio ad really free?
Yes. For a new customer, the first 30 second radio commercial is written and produced at no charge.
What is an outside broadcast?
The station broadcasts live from your premises, normally over three hours. It brings people in on the day and puts your business on air again and again.
Can radio reach Ingham and the Burdekin?
Yes. KIX Country broadcasts on 87.6 in Ingham and in Ayr and Home Hill, so a schedule can reach those towns as well as Townsville.
